🎨 Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage: Special Invite Join us on Saturday, September 14th at 10:30 am for the launch of What the Sea Saw, a digital film celebrating Staithes' fishing history. After the screening, stay for a Q&A with the local fishing community and writer Helena Fox. Free entry, refreshments provided! See what other events and talks are happening this year here.


🖼️ New Museum Signs Our new exterior signs are up! Blending tradition with a modern touch, they're worth admiring next time you visit.

📈 Visitor Numbers on the Rise Thanks to your support, our visitor numbers have significantly increased! We’re excited to continue growing and sharing Staithes' rich history.


🦋 Pest of the Month: Common Moths Help us protect our textile collections by keeping an eye out for these pesky moths. If you spot any signs of infestation, let us know!


⚓ New Exhibit Labels Explore our upcoming exhibit labels on identifying parts of a ship, created in collaboration with local experts.


🗿 Object of the Month: Māori Wahaika Club Learn about the cultural and ceremonial significance of our featured Māori war club, a remarkable example of traditional craftsmanship.


🚢 Model Ships for Sale Support the museum by purchasing one of our beautiful model ships—perfect for collectors and enthusiasts!


🔍 Preview: Object Locations in the MODES Catalogue We’re working hard on cataloguing our collection with the MODES system, ensuring that every object's location and story are well-documented.
